Farm Piece:

Growing up in rural Frontenac Country, the farming community was the backdrop in Anton’s childhood. From baling hay in the day time to field parties in the evening, farms had been sources of work and play living near Sydenham Ontario.

The Wood:
Originally a cedar tree, the wood was processed into a telephone pole that was  installed along Lakeshore Blvd in Port Credit. After being replaced with modern poles, Anton broke sections down by hand (with and axe). This process generated long flat boards with beautiful striations throughout. The wood is intentionally quite raw in all of the work to maintain some integrity of its secondary state. Minimal sanding is used to help shape the pallette to align with the vision of the piece in its tertiary form as art.

Artist Bio:

Anton lives in Port Credit, Ontario with his wife and four year old son. Much of his artistic expression has historically been through performance art but the pandemic has presented both the time and inspiration to develop in the visual arts space, something that has always interest him. Anton's inspiration is developed though the mediums he works with, specifically reclaimed cedar. Van Gogh and Monet are major early influences on Anton's landscape work as he adapts his own voice and style.
