ANISE HYSSOP-Traditionally used for soothing, anti-inflammatory properties making it useful for relieving congestion.
ASHWAGANDHA- Traditionally used for it's adaptogenic properties, helping to balance stress hormones. Said to balance thyroid hormones, reduce INFLAMMATION, and boost COGNITIVE FUNCTION. When taken regularly over the course of a year, traditionally said to give one the strength of a horse.
CHAMOMILE-traditionally used for its bitter properties, which stimulate digestion. Also used as an anti-inflammtory and Nervine, helping to reduce anxiety and promote restful sleep.
DANDELION ROOT AND LEAF- The leaf is a NUTRITIVE herb, rich in iron and calcium. As a DIURETIC, dandelion leaf also helps to eliminate toxins from the kidneys. The leaf and root are BITTERS, aiding with digestive function.
CALENDULA- Said to enhance immunity by stimulating lymphatic elimination. The lymph filters waste products from the body. CALENDULA contains cartenoids, which means those pretty petals aren’t just nice to look at, they’re good for eye health as well.
ELDERFLOWERS- Traditionally used to help reduce allergy symptoms by acting like a natural ANTIHISTAMINE. Elderflowers are also said to be DIAPHORETICS, helping to promote sweating during feverish colds.
HOLY BASIL- Said to be a NOOTROPIC, something that improves MEMORY and function of neurotransmitters. Holy Basil is considered by herbalists as an adaptogen, helping to relieve stress and boost energy levels by balancing stress hormone levels. Adaptogens are thought to improve the body’s ability to use glucose, helping to smooth out rapid rises and falls in blood sugar. Holy basil is also traditionally used to enhance liver detoxification.
LEMON BALM- Used by herbalists as a relaxing NERVINE, helping to treat anxiety and depression. It is commonly prescribed for insomnia. is said to be a mild vasodilator, gently helping to lower blood pressure by dilating blood vessels.
MILKY OATS- Traditionally used as a soothing NERVINE for calming frayed nerves. Contain fiber, calcium, silica, and protein called avenalin. Important nutrients for nervous system functioning. They are harvested before they form a seed, when the tops contain a white, milky latex. For this, they are MUCILAGINUOS, helping to reduce INFLAMMATION.
MINT-Studies have shown mint inhibits acetylcholinesterase, an enzyme responsible for neurological problems that arise with aging including Alzheimer's. As such it is said to boost COGNITIVE FUNCTION and also reduce inflammation. Mint is traditionally used as a DIAPHORETICS, helping to promote sweating during feverish colds. Mint is used as a CARMINATIVE, helping to prevent and release gas. Rich in ANTIOXIDANTS, mint is also considered an ANTISPASMODIC, relaxing smooth muscle in the digestive tract Due to the presence of MENTHOL.
MOTHERWORT- Used traditionally to promote relaxation, nurture an overworked nervous system, and reduce anxiety and panic. Herbalists say it can bring strength during challenging times. Said to ease hot flashes.
PINE NEEDLES- high in VITAMIN C, which supports the immune system.
RED RASPBERRY LEAVES- A NUTRITIVE herb, the leaves contain a high concentration of nutrients like naturally chelated iron (easily digestible),calcium, potassium, vitamins B, C, E. Raspberry Leaf is an ASTRINGENT due to the presence of tannins. Tannins are used to reduce inflammation in the gut. Raspberry leaves target the reproductive system. They are traditionally used as a uterine tonic best taken regularly in the last 3-4 months of pregnancy. Though most commonly used by pregnant ladies, they are also considered an excellent general tonic for reproductive and endocrine health.
RED CLOVER- Traditionally used as a Detoxifier. It is NUTRIENT RICH and contains phytoestrogens which can help to balance female hormones.
ROSE HIPS- high in vitamin C and polyphenols Herbs rich in coloring compounds contain polyphenols, which are phytochemicals known to help prevent cancer. POLYPHENOLS are potent anti-oxidants. Oxygen is necessary for survival, however it causes the body to produce highly reactive molecules- FREE RADICALS. Anti-oxidants keep these in check.
STINGING NETTLES- A NUTRITIVE TONIC, filled with a wide variety of nourishing minerals including selenium, zinc, vitamin A, and vitamin K. They are also one of the highest plant sources of iron and are rich in calcium, which explains why it has been used to treat anemia. Traditionally used as a remedy for seasonal allergies. Some studies have shown that the compounds in nettles can inhibit the production of certain substances that cause an allergic inflammation response in the body.
VALERIAN - Traditionally used for its SEDATIVE properties. Can help to promote restful sleep and calm the nervous system.
YARROW- called a FEBRIFUGE, said to help with reducing fevers. Has a long history of being used for its ability to stop bleeding inside and out.
